Municipal Biogas Upgrade (Stadtwerke Augsburg)
This project expands municipal anaerobic digestion capacity to process bio-waste at scale and upgrades output into grid-compatible biogas. The resulting fuel is injected directly into the district heating system, displacing fossil inputs and supporting regional decarbonisation goals. Implemented under Phase II of the city's climate strategy, the initiative is backed by regulatory commitments and cross-agency alignment. It forms part of a multi-year roadmap to achieve energy sovereignty and measurable emissions reductions.
